For A Greener Future

For A Greener Colombo.

Today in Sri Lanka we could see how environmental pollution is affecting each and every part of the country. Today I saw a children's playground in Colombo which I used to go to play cricket as a small kid and the present scenario of that ground was heartbreaking to see. There were no kids playing. Half of the ground was filled with waste, and you can't even go near that ground without closing your nose.

As the city of Colombo develops we could see that the amount of waste produced by the city is also rising due to the facts like unnecessary usage of products because of the fact that needs and necessities of the citizens are growing bigger day by day. But someday if this keeps on going the whole city is going to be a garbage dump. Most of the citizens in Colombo area might have seen the Bluemandel landfill. I don't think any person who's living in Colombo wants to see more landfills like that in the city. As a citizen I don't want to see any.

Environmental pollution is one of the main problems that every living being on earth is facing after the industrial revolution. Though there were many suggested solutions to prevent environmental pollution, today we know that it is not something that we could do in a day or two. Pollution caused by waste is one of the major problems in almost every country. When it comes to developing countries it is much worse. We must try to prevent this by making a change in our attitudes as everything cannot be done through rules and regulations. Wish to see a greener Colombo for our future generations.
